The dragon is

taking shape

The magnificent landmark is coming to life.
After years of curiosity, wonder and anticipation, we are now taking the next step with renewed energy and a clear vision. With deep respect for the unique heritage embedded in every stone, pillar and gate, we are beginning a transformation that is careful, bold and sustainable.

We are breathing new life into a place that has already captivated thousands of passersby, yet until now has only whispered the beginning of its story.

Now, we continue where the story paused.
With presence, dedication and fresh perspectives, we are building and reshaping a new concept based on a vision of a destination worth visiting or simply stopping by for a moment of calm.

Dragon Gate is a living place with its future ahead.

Major investment in sustainable heating system for the entire Dragon Gate area

Dragon Gate takes a major step toward sustainability with the construction of a new climate-neutral heating facility. Designed to support 35,000–40,000 square meters, the system will power the future development of the area, including the hotel. Built with cutting-edge bioenergy technology and housed in a unique glulam structure, this marks the beginning of a new era for one of Sweden’s most iconic roadside destinations.

FAQ

Where is Dragon Gate located?

Dragon Gate is located in Älvkarleby, right next to the E4 highway between Gävle and Uppsala. The site is easily accessible by both car and public transport.

Is it open now?

The area outside the hotel is open. Here you’ll find Joey’s Gelato, recently opened with handmade gelato produced on site. We are currently working hard behind the walls to rebuild for a more sustainable future.

When will the hotel open?

We are working hard to get the hotel up and running, with the goal of opening by the end of 2026. An important milestone has already been reached with the construction of a new heating system that will supply the entire Dragon Gate area. All necessary permits for operating the hotel are in place.
