Joey’s Gelato opens at Dragon Gate

A new and flavorful summer awaits at Dragon Gate as Joey’s Gelato moves in. After great success in both Uppsala and Gävle, gelato entrepreneur Josef “Joey” Mattsson is now opening a new location in Älvkarleby.

Homemade gelato in the heart of Dragon Gate

At the center of Dragon Gate, Joey’s Gelato will be made and served fresh on site. Visitors can enjoy artisanal Italian gelato with up to 28 different flavors available daily. Many of the options are dairy-free, and in its first year Joey’s Gelato has experimented with over 70 unique flavor combinations. Everything is crafted with care and a love for high-quality ingredients.

A flavorful meeting place

Joey’s arrival at Dragon Gate brings more than just ice cream. It creates a vibrant gathering spot for the whole family. The new production site allows for an expanded range of flavors while also generating new job opportunities in the region. Dragon Gate continues to grow as a destination for food, culture and memorable experiences.

The founder behind the gelato

Josef Mattsson, known as Joey, opened his first gelateria in Glashuset, Uppsala in 2024. His vision was to offer world-class authentic gelato. Together with his wife Mimmi and a growing team approaching 20 employees, he continues to build his brand on passion, quality and innovation.
